About a week ago, I posted my list of my Top 10 Movies of 2012. Along with that, I also posted a poll to allow you to pick your favorite film from that list. I now have the official results from that list, and it made me incredibly happy to see that your choices for your top 3 movies of 2012 were exactly the same and in exactly the same order as mine were! Here are both of our selections.
2nd Runner Up:
The Dark Knight Rises
Once again, this list is for favorite movie of 2012, not necessarily best, and the fact that this was your #3 choice as well as mine means that we’re on the same page in that criteria. The Dark Knight Rises is an unsurprising step down from The Dark Knight, but it’s one of the most perfect embodiment of the word “Powerful” that I saw last year. This is a huge film with huge ambitions, and between Nolan’s assured direction and the strong efforts from new characters across the board, The Dark Knight Rises is easily one of my favorite films of 2012
1st Runner Up:
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
This was going to be one of my top 3 of 2012 since the moment I saw it, but I am hugely surprised that a majority of you agreed with me. Contrasted to The Dark Knight Rises, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a very small film with a very big heart, and I’m glad to see that I’m absolutely not alone in feeling that it deserves much more recognition than it has been given. If you haven’t seen this film, I strongly recommend you give it a shot whenever you get the chance.
And Our Winner…
Django Unchained
And Boom goes the Dynamite! I don’t even think there’s that much I need to say here as to why this was my absolute favorite movie of the year. Tarantino has once again proven himself to be the master of Dark Comedy with this strikingly acted, deliciously morbid masterpiece. I would still place Pulp Fiction as the man’s best film, but Django at least ties with Inglourious Basterds and shows that the aging director has plenty of steam left in him.
Thank you all for taking the time to vote and I look forward to what 2013 has to offer for all of us.

I am super glad to see Perks as the Runner up. I really liked that one so much more than I thought I would.
I agree, glad to see Perks as the first runner up as well.
Still need to see Perks of Being a Wallflower, missed it in the cinema!
It’s the kind of movie that doesn’t realy lose much in translation to DVD luckily, no giant explosions here lol
More Perks love over here! Glad to see it getting some love, great film.
So awesome to see Perks mentioned. LOVED that one.
