Well, another year is upon us and I’m going to shake things up by giving myself a new set of goals and a new focus for my blog. For one, I am going to put my segment of “Movies I Should Have Seen By Now” on hiatus because of the sheer amount of films I have to see to catch up with the rest of my blogging peers. If I write a review for each and every classic movie I see I fear I will have very little time left over to watch the movies in the first place, let alone do silly things like eat, sleep, go to classes, etc. For the same reason of time constraints I am putting a hold on my Polish That Turd segment for the time being. I love the segment itself but I will try to get one or two in every now and then.
That being said, the breaks I’m taking on those segments will be filled with weekly “Two Cents Worth” questions, as well as my new goals for 2013:
1. Watch and review every movie released on at least 1,000 screens nationwide in 2013
2. Watch and review every movie nominated for a significant Academy Award for 2012
You heard me right, I will make it my mission to watch and review EVERY movie that gets a wide release in the coming year. I might not always be able to get everything on the weekend it comes out, but I’ll do my best to be timely as possible.
With regards to #2, a “significant academy award” includes everything except for Documentaries, shorts, or Foreign Film (which is an issue of availability for me, not national prejudice).
I’ll begin this Friday with Texas Chainsaw 3D, Promised Land and The Impossible. Wish me luck!

Very interesting goals. Best of luck
Looking forward to your reviews! About the Oscar nominees, will you also be reviewing those in the sound editing and mixing categories?
Most definitely, why?
Just asked because you said you’d review films up for a “significant Academy Award” and many consider those to be the “minor” categories. But hey, that’s an awesome project. You’ll have a lot of watching to do.
Lol, I would actually have considered them minor, but the odds are I’ll have already seen all of the entries since they’re usually the big blockbusters that get nominated for that category
Yeah, that’s true. We’ll probably see TDKR, Avengers and Skyfall there.
Wow, you might just have the hardest goals out of everyone I’ve heard from.
lol, awesome, now all I have to do is follow through
Haha, yeah. It might get tough being forced to watch terrible movies that got wide releases for no reason other than the fact that they could afford it.
Good luck dude. Seeing every movie will be tough (so much junk gets a wide release) but will be very interested to see how you go.
Good luck!! You will need it
Good luck man! Looking forward to it
Woah – what great plans. Best of luck!
Thanks, it’ll be rough but I think I can make it happen
Good luck with 1, its harder than it looks believe me
I believe you, I’m interested to see how long I’m able to keep it up but most likely I’ll have to review some movies once they come out on DVD. I suppose that still counts as long as I get them seen by the end of 2013
That does count! Must be in cinema
