Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, or Atheist Christmas (also known as Christmas; after all, everyone likes presents), I’d like to take this chance to wish you all a very happy holiday season. I hope you’ve all been given at least a brief break from work, school, or voluntary unemployment (aka Chillax Time), though I’d assume from the increased number of posts in my inbox that you all have at least some time to dedicate to the blogging world I’m very much looking forward to all of the incoming reviews for Django Unchained, Les Miserables, and Zero Dark Thirty, the first two of which I will be catching later this week.
To all of my non-blogging followers out there, be you friends, family or absolute strangers, I’d like to wish you the same. On top of that, though, I’d like to thank you all for listening to what I have to say for these past six months. I know the internet is a very big place and movie reviews have way more words to process than Lolcats require, so I appreciate you stopping by. I hope I’ve saved you from at least a few bad movies and pushed you to see at least a few great ones.
Finally though, I’d like to announce my Oscar Nominations game. As many of you know, the list of 2013 Oscar Nominees comes out this January 10th, but in the mean time I thought it might be fun to have a contest to see who can guess the most nominees from the following categories.
- Best Picture
- Best Director
- Best Actor in a Leading Role
- Best Actress in a Leading Role
- Best Actor in a Supporting Role
- Best Actress in a Supporting Role
- Best Animated Feature Film
- Best Adapted Screenplay
- Best Original Screenplay
As you might expect, each entrant into the competition will have up to five choices for every category except for best picture, which will be allowed ten. To submit your entry, email me your picks at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will then put them together and post them to my site as soon as possible, complete with links to your blog. Once the actual nominees are announced, I will go through each list and see who guessed the most nominees correctly and announce the winners.
Just to clarify, this isn’t a list of films/people who think SHOULD be nominated, it’s a list of films/people that WILL be nominated. Of course this isn’t monitored so you could feasibly just go to somebody like Roger Ebert’s list of predicted nominees and choose them all for your own, but I highly encourage you to all think for yourselves
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
