Okay, so I’m not going to weigh in on this issue yet, but now that the news of LucasFilm being bought out by Disney having had several hours to wash over me I’d love to hear what all of you readers think about the idea of a new non-Prequel Star Wars movie.
Whether you’re a die hard Star Wars fan or not, all opinions are welcome. Sound off in the comments below!

I'm a student at the University of Washington Majoring Business. I've always loved movies and my goal is to work on the financial side of the film industry. Until then though, I figure I'll spare my friends from my opinions and shout them from a digital mountaintop for anyone who's interested. After all, if a tree falls in a forest and nobody blogs about it, does it really happen?
Everyone is crying that Disney is going to ruin Star Wars. But honestly have these people watched The Phantom Menace lately? Sorry, but George Lucas already beat them to it.
P.S. I am a massive fan of the original trilogy.
I think a lot of people are in the “just end the pain” mentality, which I can understand but at the end of a long, crappy day most people don’t just say “oh that was terrible” and shoot themselves to get it over with. They go to sleep, wake up, and try to make the next day go a little better. Star Wars will have had a decade to “Sleep”, and I for one am looking forward to the possibilities that a new series would offer.
Also I’m a huge Star Wars fan as well and am greatly interested in what extended universe storylines they might decide to cover. I’d love to see something from the Knights of the Old Repubic Era, but since the 7 in the title suggests that it happens after ROTJ I’d guess something more like the Legacy of the Force series, having Luke, Han and Lei come back as their older selves with the story focused on Han and Leia’s children
Whilst part of me wishes they could just leave it as it is and do no further harm to it, Star Wars is simply not going to go away so I’m glad they’ve passed it over to a company who do often make great films. They have access to Joss Whedon through The Avengers so it’d be pretty interesting to see what he’d do with a Star Wars film.
Lol, as much as I love Whedon I doubt he’d take on Star Wars. Personally I’m still optimistic though, I’d like to think that the people at Disney might learn from the mistakes they made in the prequels. I’m definitely interested in who they end up with as the Director though, fingers crossed for someone good!
