Nice list. The original King Kong also wins by what it did for special effects. A lot of the stuff they did in that movie was new at the time and is still being used today.
Yeah, I guess my personal feeling on the matter is I respect movies for advancing aspects of cinema but that doesn’t mean I have to like them better than other movies that have had years to improve on those original method. The original King Kong special effects may have been more ground-breaking but the remake is undeniably more realistic and engaging.
Just curious, what would you say is your favorite and least favorite remakes (all genres included)?
The Hills Have Eyes was a solid remake and though I like the original Dawn of the Dead better, the remake was pretty special.
The Fog jumps off at me as worst remake. Most of the remakes I don’t like are just ones that feel like a cash in.
I would agree about the remake of King Kong. They also did a lot of stuff in that one that was ground breaking as well.
